Sustainable Fashion Brands

As someone who has watched one video about fast fashion, I have truly been scared for life.

It is very tempting to continue shopping on the easy route. Fast fashion is so easy to access and always there. But sometimes you have to take into account the immense environmental impact fast fashion has on the world around us. Fast fashion is cheap because most of the employees are not paid living wages.

"Fast Fashion is cheaply produced, poorly constructed clothing which copies the latest catwalk styles, pumped quickly through stores to maximize on current trends."

“Global clothing production has doubled in the past 15 years, with garments on average being worn much less and discarded quicker than ever before.”

"Nine out of ten workers interviewed in Bangladesh cannot afford enough food for themselves and their families"
“20,000 LITERS. The amount of water needed to produce one kilogram of cotton; equivalent to a single t-shirt and pair of jeans.”

FAST FASHION BRANDS TO AVOID:

  • RIP CURL

  • VICTORIA'S SECRET

  • URBAN OUTFITTERS

  • GAP & OLD NAVY

  • FASHION NOVA

  •  H&M

  • SHEIN

  • NASTY GAL

Here are some of my favorite slow fashion brands:

  • Most prices range from $20 - $80  - Very simple statement pieces for your closet.

  • This company donates a large amount of money from their clothes directly to cotton farmers and their families. They have a traceability page that explains where they get all their materials and the workers that supply them.

  • Most prices range from $100 - $300 - Patterned statement pieces for your wardrobe

  • This company uses all sustainable fabrics and tries their absolute hardest to be as transparent as they can by providing where and how their clothes are made.

Everlane

  • Shopping sustainably can be expensive but it is worth it. You will feel better about your purchases and you will know that you have made a difference in the environment around you. Shopping sustainably is going to be the best lifestyle switch you can make.
